Connor McDonough-Flynn’s been a comedian for 5+ years. Hes gigged all around Ireland and Internationally.

His comedy is bizarre, bold and (un)balanced – he’s an arguably debatable spectator tempter. Connor will have you laughing away as he deals with the debaucherous topics that present themselves daily. The stimulating humdrum thoughts that arouse bemusement. And the oddball anecdotes that evoke howls, from the mouths, on your face. There’s a means to his madcap manoeuvres.

He put on his first solo show (hour special): “I’m Not Special” at The Workman’s Club in Dublin on the 13th of March, 2015.

He’s since began touring:  “I’m Not Special” bringing 5-shows to the Galway Fringe Festival in July 2015.

Battle of the Axe: 7th June 2016

Connor McDonough-Flynn (@ConMcFlynn) #TakingTheStage on the 7th of June 2016 at the Battle of the Axe (@BattleoftheAxe1) in the Ha’penny Bridge Inn (). One of Ireland’s longest established clubs. Tel: 0868156987, battleoftheaxe@hotmail.com…

Battle of the Axe continues to produce, nourish and establish the careers of the very best performers on the Irish Open Mic Comedy & Singer/songwriter circuit. Established in 1996 the Battle of the Axe presents an eclectic mix of new and established talent.

Stand-up comedy, singer/ songwriters & open mic are premier features of the Battle of the Axe show on Tuesday nights while Thursday night features some of the best Stand-up Comedy, improv and sketch performances to be seen in Dublin city. The gig is one of Ireland’s longest established clubs and continues to feature impromptu guest performances from established luminaries from the International and Irish Comedy Circuit. If your idea of a good night out is to experience the perfect pint in a quintessentially intimate Dublin pub while being entertained by some of the best new and established talent the Nation has to offer drop in to Battle of the Axe at The Ha’Penny Bridge Inn on Tuesday or Thursday nights!

The Ha’ Penny Laughs [The Original Comedy Club at the Pub since 1995] Improv and Stand-up features the last Thursday of every month.

New acts always welcome! See our contact us section for more information.

Besides being resident at The Ha’ Penny Bridge Inn on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Battle of the Axe has also performed and presented shows at the following venues:

The Battle of the Axe roots itself in The Hoop Bar, Notting Hill Gate, London where Producer/Director and Founder Tony Ferns organised open mic shows for musicians in the early 1980s for 10 years.

Tony established the Battle of the Axe a few years after his return to Ireland in 1996 primarily for actors trying out monologues.

However soon Comedians and Singer/songwriters fell in love with the open mic theme of the Lucky Duck Award and Certificate with audience voting for the No 1 act on the night. And that was it  – The Battle of the Axe was fully born.

“Eve is a relatively new stand-up comedian on the Irish comedy scene, having spent some time ‘doing’ comedy in Vancouver. Nobody invited her to, she just happened to live there for a time and while there decided to ‘break in’ her new comedy self whilst marvelling at such an exotic and strange land. Little did naïve Eve know that breaking in would also entail breaking down. Eve’s fear of commitment and aversion to labels has led to her current comedy ‘style’ being largely undefined, described best (in cheerleadingly encouraging and hopeful sentiments) as, ‘a work in progress’ and ‘evolving’. And as a wise woman once said many times, “shur, isn’t that all any of us can hope to strive for.” That wise woman only ever managed to make average tea. Eve likes tea.”
